Your Leon Store account

It takes just a few minutes to register for a Leonstores account. Once set up, you can buy, sell, communicate with other Leonstores members, and leave feedback for your trading partners.

Our guides below will explain everything you need to know about how to create, manage, and customize your account, and get help dealing with any Leonstores account problems.

Signing up for a Leonstores account

Opening an account allows you to buy and sell on Leonstores. It also gives you access to My Leonstores, which keeps track of all your buying and selling activities, items you’ve saved to your watch list, and your favorite sellers and searches.

You can set up your account in just a few minutes by registering.

Here’s how to open an account:

  1. Go to the registration page.
    2. Enter your name and email address.
    3. Choose a password.
    4. Select Register. (By selecting Register, you’re agreeing to accept the terms of our User Agreement and User Privacy Notice.)
    5. We’ll send you a welcome email, with tips on how to get started.

If you want to register as a business, select Business account on the registration page. We’ll ask for some additional details, like your business name, type, and address.

If you are a US based seller with inventory outside the US, you may have additional tax obligations. You can find more information about these possible obligations, in the Seller Center.

How to verify your Leonstores account

Before you can start buying, we’ll ask you to verify your email address. We’ll send you an email to the address you entered when registering with further instructions.

To open a Leonstores account, you’ll need just your email address. To open a business account, you need a bit more information, including your business name, type of business, and address.

Signing in to your account

After you’ve registered with Leonstores, you should sign in to your account whenever you’re looking to buy and sell. Signing in gives you a more personalized shopping experience. It also gives you access to My Leonstores, where you can keep track of all your buying and selling activities, items you’ve saved to your watch list, and your favorite sellers and searches.

You’ll also need to be signed in to exchange messages with other Leonstores members.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to our Sign in page.
  2. Enter your email address or username.
  3. Enter your password.
  4. Select Sign in.

If that doesn’t work, here are a few things to check:

  1. Make sure the Caps Lock on your keyboard isn’t on
  2. Look for any spelling errors
  3. If you’ve recently changed your username or password, your browser might remember your old information. Try manually entering your new username and password
  4. If you’re still having problems logging in, you can reset your password.

Your password is case-sensitive, so make sure Caps Lock is turned off.

How to sign out
To log out, select your name, which is shown in the top left corner of most Leonstores pages, and then Sign out. We recommend you log out of your account whenever you’ve finished using Leonstores, especially if you’re using a public or shared device.

Sign in to your Leonstores account for a more personalized shopping experience, and access to My Leonstores for tracking buying and selling activities, your watch list, and your favorite sellers and searches.

Account holds, restrictions, and suspensions

We never want to disrupt someone from using Leonstores, but to protect our community we may occasionally restrict or suspend accounts if we’re concerned about fraud or other negative impacts to our members.

If your account is on hold, restricted, or suspended, we’ll send an email to your registered email address and to your Leonstores Messages explaining why. We’ll also let you know what you need to do before it can be reinstated.

Common reasons for account suspension
Some of the most common reasons we suspend our accounts are:

  • Non-payment of Leonstores fees
  • Not reimbursing Leonstores for a refund we made to your buyer
  • A serious violation of one of our rules and policies

How to have your account reinstated
Getting your account reinstated may be as simple as waiting for a temporary suspension to finish, making changes to your listings, or sending us some more information – it depends on the reason why we suspended your account. The full details will be in the message we sent you.

Most account restrictions or suspensions can be resolved by following the steps we gave you in the email in Leonstores Messages.

What happens while an account is suspended?
During a suspension you can’t bid, sell, or leave feedback but when your account is reinstated, you’ll be able to leave feedback for any transactions you completed in the 30 days before your reinstatement.

Any bidders on existing listings can retract their bids and you won’t be able to contact bidders or reply to questions in Leonstores Messages until your account is reinstated.

It’s important to remember too that while an account is suspended, no new listings can be created, and no existing listings can be revised.

Depending on why an account was suspended, we may end listings early. If we remove listings because of a policy violation, eligibility for a fee credit will depend on the situation and will take into account any previous policy violations. These credits can be viewed on the Account Activity page. Keep in mind that listing fees can be forfeited too, depending on the reason for suspension.

Fake account hold and suspension notices
Watch out for spoof (fake) emails about account holds or suspensions. To confirm that an email was sent from Leonstores, check your Leonstores Messages. If you can’t find a copy of the email there, then it wasn’t from Leonstores. Learn how to recognize spoof emails.

If your account is on hold, restricted, or suspended, we’ll send an email to your registered email address and to your Leonstores Messages explaining why. We’ll also let you know what you need to do before it can be reinstated.

Protecting your account

The safety of our members is one of our top priorities, so we take a number of steps to help ensure the security of your account. There are also several things you can do to prevent your account from being hacked or taken over.

To keep your Leonstores account secure, we recommend:

  • Changing your password regularly
  • Frequently checking that your contact information is correct
  • Watching out for the signs of spoof emails, which are intended to access members’ passwords and other sensitive information
  • If you suspect your account has been taken over, contact us immediately. If your account has been compromised, we’ll work with you to secure it. Read our guides below for more information.

For your protection, we may place a temporary hold on your account until we can safely return control of it to you. We can also help you remove unauthorized fraudulent bids or listings.

It’s a good idea to check My Leonstores and your preferences occasionally to make sure no one has used your account or made any unauthorized changes. If you see anything has changed without your authorization, contact us.

Secure your account

Get help with a hacked account
If you think someone is trying to take over your account – or already has – we’ll work with you to secure it. For your protection, we may place a temporary hold on your account.

If your account might have been compromised, first check if anyone with access to your account made changes to it, but then immediately takes steps to secure your account if:

  • You might have provided sensitive personal information in response to a spoof or “phishing” email
  • You think someone has hacked into or is trying to take over your Leonstores account. Signs that your account has been taken over include seeing listings or bids that you didn’t make, or noticing that your password has been changed without your knowledge

If you believe your Leonstores account has been compromised, we recommend changing the password on your personal email account as well. Your email account password should be different from your Leonstores password.

Dealing with account theft
Whenever there is suspicious activity related to your account, it’s important to act quickly.

If you can’t sign in to your account, contact us immediately. If an unauthorized person has used your account, we may temporarily suspend it until it’s secure again.

If you can sign in to your account, follow these steps:

  1. Change your password immediately.
  2. Change your secret question.
  3. Verify your contact information. If anything was changed by the person who took over your account, change it back.
  4. Check your active listings in My Leonstores to make sure they’re yours. Contact us for help with removing unauthorized fraudulent listings.

If someone has used your Leonstores account without your permission, you’ll want to contact your credit card company and your bank, and you may also want to file a police report.

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately and we’ll help you secure it.

Recognizing spoof or phishing emails
If you receive an email that appears to be from Leonstores and requests sensitive personal information, be cautious. The email may be a “spoof” or “phishing” email.

Fraudsters send fake emails, which appear to come from well-known companies, in the hope that recipients will reply or click on a link contained in the email, and then provide confidential information including passwords or bank or credit card details.

How to report spoof and phishing emails
If you receive a suspicious email, you should report it to us immediately. Here’s how:

  1. Don’t click any links in the email or open any attachments.
  2. Forward the message to us as an attachment at

We’ll let you know that we received the email.

To help us investigate the source of a spoof or phishing email, please ensure you include the message as an attachment.
Characteristics of spoof or phishing emails and websites

A phishing email pretending to be from Leonstores typically contains a link that takes you to a fake website. There, you’ll usually be asked to sign in, and submit personal and account information.

These emails often include the Leonstores logo and a fake Leonstores address in the “From” line. Pay attention to signs that the email might be a spoof.
Here are some typical traits of spoof emails and websites:

  • Asking for confidential information
  • An urgent tone that asks you to act quickly
  • Unsolicited attachments
  • A generic greeting, like “Attention Leonstores member”
  • A web address that looks like Leonstores, but which may have a typo or extra numbers and letters (like or

If you receive a legitimate email from Leonstores, you can expect that:

  • It will typically contain your Leonstores username
  • We won’t ask you to provide confidential information like your password or credit card details via email or over the phone
  • We’ll only include links for convenience. No link will require you to submit confidential information on the next page
  • We won’t include attachments. If you receive an unsolicited email with an attachment, don’t open it
  • We won’t ever use threatening language or include specific threats

To keep your account secure, we recommend changing your password regularly, keeping your contact information up-to-date, and watching for signs of spoof emails.

Whether you’re buying or selling, we know it’s important to be able to communicate with whoever you’re trading with. Leonstores Messages lets you keep track of messages you’ve exchanged with other Leonstores members, or to read any communications from us.

You can view your Leonstores Messages by signing in to My Leonstores and selecting “Messages”. You’ll also find a number of features to help you organize and keep track of your communications:

  • You can filter your messages from members or from Leonstores, as well as flag high priority messages
  • If you’d like to create folders to organize your messages, select Add a folder +, enter a name for your folder, and select Save
  • If you have any unread messages, you’ll see a number in brackets on the Messages tab

How to message a member on Leonstores
How you send a message to another Leonstores member will depend on whether you’ve already done business with them:

  • If the member is someone you haven’t transacted with before, you can select Contact from the member’s profile page. To find a profile page, simply click on a member’s username
  • If you’ve bid on, bought from, or sold to the member, you can use My Leonstores to contact them. Find the member’s item in My Leonstores, and from the More action’s menu, select Contact seller or Contact buyer. Type your message and select Send

We’ll send your message to both the member’s Leonstores Messages inbox as well as their personal email address. You can choose to send a copy to your registered email address too.

Sellers sometimes provide answers to commonly asked questions. We may display this information for you before providing you with a direct contact link.

How to change your email settings
You can change how your messages are displayed and archived by going to Messages and selecting Change settings on the top right of the page. Once you’ve entered your settings, select Apply.

You can also choose to display an email signature or Out of office response.

Here’s how to add a signature to any of the messages you send:

  1. In the Email Signature section, select Show signature.
  2. Enter your signature in the text box.
  3. If you have an Leonstores Store, you can also add your Store logo by selecting the Add my store logo check box.
  4. Select Apply.

To remove a signature, select Don’t show signature in the Email Signature section.

Here’s how to send Out of office replies:

  1. In the Out of office email response section, select Turn on, and enter a Start Date and End Date. When you want to turn Out of office replies off, simply select Turn off.
  2. Enter a message to send to your customers while you’re away.
  3. Select Apply.

When the Out of office reply is on, you see an alert when you visit your Messages inbox.

Remember, turning on your Out of office email response does not hide or pause your active listings – buyers will still be able to bid on and buy items from you as usual.

You can always view your Leonstores Messages by signing in to My Leonstores and selecting Messages.

Changing your account settings

If you’ve moved, have started using a new email address, or any of your personal details have changed, make sure you update your Leonstores account settings.

You can change your account settings any time, including your preferences, contact information, and subscriptions, by going to My Leonstores and selecting the Account tab. You can also update your profile in My Leonstores by selecting your username.
